Event Changes FAQ:

Why a new location?

We are extremely grateful for our time at the Navy Yard, as it offered our event room to grow and make an even greater impact for our shared mission. That being said, the Navy Yard is also growing, with unpredictable construction slated to impact both our event site and route in the coming years.

Why Cooper River Park?

After extensive research, Cooper River Park was the best location; able to accommodate a walk of this size with growth potential. Cooper River Park also offers a beautiful looped certified 5k course, ample parking for participants, a public playground for kids and onsite bathrooms. In addition to the aforementioned amenities, there are plenty of restaurants nearby for post event activities!

Why New Jersey?

The proximity of Cooper River Park is only 16 minutes from the Navy Yard and 9 minutes from Ben Franklin Bridge. Cooper River Park is easily accessible from I-95, I-676, I-295, and Route 130. While other Pennsylvania locations were considered, none provided the same ease of access nor proximity to our current event site.

Why did the date change to Sunday?

In 2024, Yom Kippur falls on the second Saturday of October. Out of respect for our Jewish community that will be celebrating Yom Kippur on Saturday, October 12, we shifted this year’s date to Sunday, October 13. The event will return to Saturday next year!

Will the event still be called Race for Hope PA?

The event name has been updated to Race for Hope Greater Philadelphia. This has been long overdue since the event has participants from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and other surrounding states.

We assure you, these changes were made in the best interest of our entire Greater Philadelphia brain tumor community. Your continued participation and support will drive discoveries and fuel breakthroughs. We can’t wait to see you on October 13!
